Ludlowe Falcons soar to Class LL cheerleading title

The Fairfield-Ludlowe Falcon cheerleaders captured their second title of the season as they finished first at the CIAC Class LL championship meet Sunday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

Ludlowe scored 174.8 points at the meet, beating second-place Newtown, which scored 170.2 points. Masuk was third with 169.9 points.

Also for the FCIAC, Greenwich was fourth with 163.8, Warde was fifth with 160.1, Danbury was sixth with 159.7, Staples was ninth with 148.5, Ridgefield was 12th with 143.4, New Canaan was 15th with 140.0, Westhill was 18th with 135.1, and Darien was 19th with 120.8.

The St. Joseph Cadets scored 176.7 to take second place in the Class M competition, trailing only Wolcott which scored 182.2.

Wilton was 14th in Class L with a 122.1 score.

In the coed competition, the Golden Eagles of Trumbull were second with a 157.2 scored, while McMahon tied for fifth at 134.6. Shelton won that division with a score of 173.6.

The Ludlowe Falcons, who will compete at the New England Interscholastic Spirit and Dance Championships in Lawrence, Mass., this weekend, defended their FCIAC championship earlier this winter when they scored 156.1 points at the conference competition at Fairfield-Warde. St. Joe’s finished second with 145.7 points, while Greenwich was third with 145.3 points.

The Falcons are led by seniors Taylor Van Fleet, Allie Nick, Alley Meyer and Hilary Pacelli, and coached by Ashley Carolan and Linsey Neglio.
