New Canaan’s Kacey Pippitt, a senior midfielder with the University of Connecticut women’s lacrosse team, was named the Big East Offensive Player of the Week for her performance with the Huskies for the week ending April 27
She was also named to the Big East First Team last Wednesday.
Pippitt scored a career-high six goals in her final game at Storrs last Saturday, as UConn topped Villanova, 15-4. That tied a season-high for a Connecticut player and marked the ninth time a UConn midfielder has scored multiple goals in a game in 2014.
Pippitt finished the regular season ranked third on the team in points (40), goals (29), and assists (11). Her biggest impact this season has come on the draw, as the senior leads the team with 54 draw controls, a number which also ranks second in the Big East.
Pippitt was named to the Preseason All-Big East team in January and is one of three Huskies to record at least 60 shots this year.
UConn (11-7) lost its last game, 16-8, to Georgetown in the semifinals of the Big East Tournament on Thursday.
Pippitt is a 2010 graduate of New Canaan High School, where she captained the Rams’ lacrosse, soccer and basketball teams.
