Westhill Vikings top Crosby, head to Class LL hoops semis

Jeremiah Livingston racked up 32 points and C.J. Donaldson added 12 as the second-seeded Westhill Vikings topped the Crosby Bulldogs, 66-60, in the Class LL quarterfinals Friday at WHS.

The Vikings (24-1) will now square off with third-seeded Hartford Public (21-2) in the semifinals at to be detemined neutral site on Tuesday, March 17. Hartford Public defeated No. 6 Simsbury, 61-51, in Friday’s quarterfinals.

Earlier this month, Westhill won its first FCIAC championship in 26 years earlier. Now, the Vikings have added their first trip to the state semifinal round in 20 years to their resume.

Westhill took over Friday’s game with a 17-6 second quarter, turning a 17-14 deficit in to a 31-23 halftime lead. Crosby closed the gap to one, 44-43, after three quarters, but the Vikes pulled away in the fourth to nail down the win.

Crosby, the No. 7 seed, fiished the winter with a record of 20-6.
