Stamford, Westhill students to receive Ro Carlucci Scholarship Awards

Everyone knew RoseMarie Carlucci as “Ro,” teacher at Westhill, coach of Field Hockey, Gymnastics, and Girl’s Tennis. However, Ro was a much deeper person than just a teacher and a coach. She was the consummate counselor and friend for everyone she touched. She volunteered for everything and was the self-appointed protector of Women’s Sports. It is our belief that the following 2 female athletes selected to receive the RoseMarie Carlucci Scholarship Awards epitomize the ideals of Ro Carlucci.

Danielle A. Cavaliere, Stamford

Danielle Cavaliere has been a cheerleader and dancer all her life. She served as captain of the Stamford High squad for the 2013-2014 season, leading her team through an undefeated season and becoming FCIAC and CIAC Champions. In her spare time, she also is a part of the Center Stage Company, taking Jazz, Ballet, Tap, and Pointe classes. With all of these activities, Cavaliere still manages to maintain a high GPA, being named an FCIAC Scholar Athlete in 2014. We are happy to award her with the RoseMarie Carlucci Scholarship and wish her continued success in the future.

Katherine Kelley, Westhill

Katherine Kelley is a well-rounded and down-to-earth young lady. Not only does she excel in sports—she was a goalie and captain for Westhill High’s field hockey team

(and was given an FCIAC Honorable Mention in 2012), and member of the lacrosse team all 4 years—but she also does extensive volunteer work. She is a member of St. Leo’s Youth group, participated in a Mission Trip to Appalachia, and served as a Peer Mentor to freshmen in her school. She also works on the Westhill Yearbook and is a lifeguard. Kelley will attend the University of Dayton and hopes to major in either Business or Law, with a minor in Psychology. We wish her the best of luck and are happy to award her with the RoseMarie Carlucci Scholarship.
