New Canaan football’s Lou Marinelli reaches 300-win mark

Lou Marinelli, who has been coaching the New Canaan football team since 1981, picked up an historic victory on Saturday as his Rams defeated the Greenwich Cardinals and gave their coach his 300th career win.

The Rams led 21-20 early in the fourth quarter before putting the game out of reach with two touchdowns for a 35-20 decision.

The win give Marinelli a career mark of 300-97-1, a .756 winning percentage, at Mamaroneck, Yorktown and New Canaan High Schools.
