Three FCIAC teams advance in State football tournaments

The Darien Blue Wave, New Canaan Rams and Trinity Catholic Crusaders all moved into the CIAC football semifinals as the state tournaments got underway on a rainy Tuesday night.

In an all-FCIAC Class LL contest, Darien knocked off Staples 41-7, while New Canaan traveled two hours north for a 21-6 win over Windsor in Class L.

In Class M, the St. Joseph Cadets had their two-year run as state champs come to an end in a 24-0 loss to New Fairfield.

The Trinity Crusaders were in fine form in the Class S quarterfinals, routing Morgan 40-12 at Stamford’s Boyle Stadium.
