The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference will induct a class of six new members into its Hall of Fame during the annual recognition program on Tuesday, June 14, in Norwalk.
The event will be held at the Norwalk Inn and Conference Center.
The Class of 2016 Hall of Fame inductees are:
John Roper – Fairfield Cross Country/Track and Field
Chip Salvestrini – Danbury Athletic Director
Pete Tucci – Norwalk Baseball/Football
Maureen “Mo” Minicus – Darien Field Hockey
Tom O’Donnell – Darien Golf
Thomas “Bo” Hickey – New Canaan Ice Hockey
Two new awards will be given at the FCIAC program.
Ralph King Award
The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference will annually recognize substantial contributions to the FCIAC with the Distinguished Coach Award named for Ralph King whose professionalism was characterized by excellence in service to the FCIAC, the CHSCA and the CIAC.
This year’s recipient is Terry Lowe of Greenwich.
John Kuczo Award
The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference will annually present this Service Award to a member of the education profession who has made significant contributions to High School athletics while exhibiting the qualities of leadership, integrity and professionalism which have been synonymous with the man to whom this recognition is named: John J. Kuczo, a long-time leader of the league. This is the FCIAC’s highest award to professional education from with-in the FCIAC, CHSCA and the CIAC.
This year’s recipient is Ed MacDowell of Greenwich.
In addition, the conference will recognize its coaches of the year from all three athletic seasons, and the FCIAC Cup will be awarded.
