Trinity’s Randy Polonia verbally commits to UConn baseball

Trinity Catholic’s Randy Polonia, the 2014 FCIAC Baseball Player of the Year, has made a verbal commitment to attend the University of Connecticut next year.

Polonia, a right-hander starting pitcher who also plays shortstop at Trinity, will join a Huskies baseball team which was 27-31 last spring. The Huskies are coached by Jim Penders, who is in his 12th season at the helm.

“UConn felt like home to me,” Polonia told Rich DePreta of the Stamford Advocate. “It’s not too far away from Stamford and it’s not too close. I’m happy to have the decision process finished. Now I can just play baseball for Trinity Catholic High this spring. I won’t have all these other concerns on my mind.”
