Fairfield basketball rallies around “Undefeatable” Brancato

The annual basketball doubleheader between the Warde and Ludlowe basketball teams in Fairfield is always a remarkable night featuring a battle two high school rivals.

When they meet this year, on Tuesday evening at Ludlowe High School, they’ll also be rallying around one of their own: Warde junior Giacomo Brancato.

Brancato, a member of the Mustangs’ boys basketball and baseball teams, has been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma — a cancer of the lymph tissue in the autoimmune system.

T-shirts bearing Brancato’s name and the word “Undefeatable” will be available to purchase, helping to support Brancato’s fight, during Tuesday night’s game.

The tipoff for the girls’ contest is 6 p.m., with the boys game to follow at 7:45 p.m.

Anyone interested in purchasing a T-short or making a donation, can contact Jennifer Parsons at porcalana@aol.com.
