BU’s Cal Dearth named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

Former Ridgefield Tiger and current Boston University Terrier Cal Dearth has started his college lacrosse career in fine fashion this spring, as he was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on March 17.

Dearth, a freshman midfielder, racked up two goals and four assists for six points to help lead the Terriers to a 12-7 victory over Lafayette on March 15. It was the first win for BU, which is in its first season as a Div. I program.

The Terriers are 1-8 this year, and Dearth has played in all nine games, starting eight times. He had 13 points on six goals and seven assists, while picking up 19 ground balls to rank second on the team in that category. He has also caused six turnovers.

Dearth had two goals in a 13-7 loss to Navy on March 29 in BU’s last game, and the Terriers will be back in action on Saturday when they host Army at noon.
