Danbury crowned FCIAC wrestling champs (Complete tournament bracket)

The Danbury Hatters claimed the FCIAC wrestling championship for the fifth consecutive season and for the 28th time in 29 year with a dominating performance in the conference tournament, held this weekend at New Canaan High School.

The Hatters also claimed six individual championships and had nine finalists in the 15 weight classes.

Danbury scored 293 points to win the team title, with Warde second at 222.5, and Trumbull third at 208.5. Ludlowe (121) and Greenwich (114) rounded out the top five.

Warde had several huge performances and all four of its finalists won championships. Trumbull was next with three individual champs and five finalists. Ludlowe and Greenwich each had one weight class champion.

Trumbull had two wrestlers earn Most Outstanding Wrestler awards: Cross Cannone for the lower weights (106-145) and Stephen Briganti for the upper weights (152-285).
