CIAC Wrestling: Nine FCIAC grapplers win state crowns

The FCIAC had nine wrestlers strike gold with CIAC wrestling championships on Saturday.

In Class LL, five FCIAC wrestlers have been crowned, including Danbury’s Jeremy Fields (126 pounds) and Juan Garcia (182), Trumbull’s Cross Cannone (132) and Stephan Briganti (160), and Westhill’s Matthew Conte (120).

Another four league wrestlers won Class L championships, including Warde’s Timmy Kane (126) and Charlie Kane (138), Ludlowe’s Chase Lind (152), and Harding’s Xavier Bass (182).

In Class LL, Danbury finished in second place in the team standings with 231 points, while Newtown was the champion with 282.5 points. Simsbury and Xavier tied for third with 189 apiece, and Trumbull was fifth with 183.

In Class L, Warde took second place in the team standings with 228.5 points, trailing champion New Milford, which scored 264. Middletown was third with 137, followed by Ludlowe (129) and Bristol Eastern (109.5) in the top five.
