Charlie Capalbo will be honored by the Fairfield County Sports Commission. The Fairfield County Sports Commission announced today that Fairfield resident Charlie Capalbo is the 2017 Chelsea Cohen Courage Award recipient. The graduate of Ludlowe High, who was the goalie for the Fairfield co-op hockey team, was diagnosed with cancer in March. At 14 years old, Ridgefielder Mia Scarpati won the women's club championship at the Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury.
The average age of the women's club champions at Ridgewood Country Club is now a tad younger. The adjustment came over Labor Day weekend, as Ridgefield resident Mia Scarpati won three straight matches to win the title at Ridgewood, a private course in Danbury.
