The Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference and Southern Connecticut Conference have finalized the football match-ups for the “SCC-FCIAC Challenge,” which begins next season.
The agreement between the two high school conferences will include 48 football games during the next two years. The 2013 and 2014 football seasons have an extra week, and the open slot will be filled with the Challenge games.
The majority of the games will be played in week one, with contests being held Wednesday through Saturday. Home teams have not been determined for the 2013 season, but teams that host games next fall will be the visiting teams in 2014.
Four teams — two from each league, will not participate in the SCC-FCIAC Challenge. From the FCIAC, Norwalk will play Westhill in a non-conference game in week one. From the SCC, Amity will play Seymour, while Branford will play against a yet to be determined opponent.
Nine teams from the two leagues, including five from the FCIAC, are playing in the CIAC tournaments this fall. Those FCIAC teams include Staples, Greenwich, New Canaan, St. Joseph and Trinity Catholic, and the playoff teams from the SCC are Hand, Xavier, Hillhouse, and West Haven.
