Field set for FCIAC Boys Lacrosse Tournament

The match-ups have finally been set for the FCIAC boys lacrosse tournament, which will faceoff with four quarterfinal games on Monday.

Darien, which has won 70 consecutive games, earned the No. 1 seed with a perfect 11-0 league record, while No. 2 New Canaan and No. 3 Ridgefield each finished 10-1. Wilton earned the No. 4 seed with a conference record of 8-3. Those are the four home teams for the quarterfinal round.

Among the road teams, Staples is the No. 5 seed with a record of 8-3. No. 6 Greenwich and No. 7 St. Joseph are each 7-4 in league play.

Ludlowe earned the eighth and final seed via the quality wins tiebreaker over Trumbull, as Ludlowe defeated Staples this season.

Here is the complete playoff schedule:

The eight playoff teams were determined using a power point system. Teams were awarded 100 points for each official league victory, and 10 bonus points for every league win that opponent has.

While the power point system was used to determine qualifiers, it was not used to determine final seedings.

After the qualifiers are determined, the coaches of the qualifying teams ranked the teams 1-7 (coaches cannot rank their own teams) and those votes were used to determine seeding.
