HARTFORD — The final seconds of the second overtime period were ticking away Saturday night, but Staples girls soccer coach Barry Beattie had already started to make his walk down the sidelines.
The first person he encountered was Wilton coach Renalto Topali. The two exchanged a bear hug as the buzzer sounded. It was a 0-0 tie, co-champions in the Class LL state final between the FCIAC rivals at Dillon Stadium.
