TRUMBULL — It was going to be hard to top the drama between Staples and Trumbull from last season, but the 2022 contest between the two schools was just as thrilling.
Staples’ Tyler Clark caught a 70-yard touchdown pass on a third-and-15 with 1:12 left and Sam Petrosino intercepted the ball on the 20-yard line with 24 seconds left to give the Wreckers the 36-29 win against No. 7 Trumbull on Friday.
