NEW CANAAN — On a night when New Canaan basketball honored legendary coach Don Usher, the current group of Rams seemed to channel some of that 1980s magic.

Usher was the head basketball coach at the school from 1976-1994, often having his teams play in front of large home crowds.

Playing in front of a boisterous crowd as well as many alumni, New Canaan came out on fire and never looked back, beating Greenwich 66-45 Friday night.

“This was a really big win for us. Against Wilton we didn’t shoot well and tonight we got off to a really good start and that set the tone for the rest of the game. Everyone fed off that energy, especially with that big crowd we had tonight,” New Canaan senior Jack Richardson said.
