GREENWICH — Greenwich came close to defeating rival Staples in last season’s FCIAC boys tennis final, but the Wreckers continued their reign of supremacy, edging the Cardinals for their fifth consecutive FCIAC championship and their 55th straight victory.
When Staples renewed its rivalry with Greenwich on Wednesday, it held a 63-match winning streak dating to the 2016 season. Yet this time, the Cardinals succeeded in their role of streak stoppers.
