“No Names & No Numbers” FCIAC Initiative

At the FCIAC Student/Athlete Leadership on August 24th at Staples High School, the student representatives from the FCIAC schools worked together to formulate a policy for all fans to adhere to at FCIAC athletic contests.

There was an agreement that the fans negative comments directed to opposing players was above and beyond the expectations of our schools.

The phrase “No Names & No Numbers” will be used by our student fan group leaders and crowd control personnel to remind all fans that they are not to call out an opposing player either by name or number.

Signage is being made up by the FCIAC which has on it the support of the FCIAC Student Leadership Council of this initiative.  Each school will receive three signs to post in their gyms and to be held up in front of the fans.

The mental health awareness of all our students/athletes is also a focal point of the FCIAC and the hurtful comments which fans have addressed towards athletes is important to eliminate.

At all FCIAC contests please remember to follow this initiative of “No Names & No Numbers” and “Cheer for your team and not against your opponent”.  Thank you!
