Early in the season, the team has made a point of taking nothing for granted and playing hard whether the score is close or they have a comfortable lead.
The Vikings (2-0) were certainly locked in Wednesday, defeating rival Trinity Catholic 3-0 (25-8, 25-20, 25-15).

The Ridgefield High boys and girls cross country teams opened their seasons with sweeps at home on Tuesday. Taking six of the top-seven spots, the Ridgefield High girls cross country team opened the season by beating Darien, 18-44, Stamford, 15-50, and Westhill, 15-50, at Ridgefield High School. TRUMBULL — Ahead 2-0 at break and 3-0 less than five minutes into the second half, the Trumbull girls soccer team felt pretty good about its chances for taking three points off Darien Tuesday afternoon.
That said, in FCIAC girls soccer few leads are ever all that safe.
And almost on cue, the Blue Wave rallied with a pair of goals barely a minute apart to make the final half hour quite interesting. In the end, Trumbull managed to hold off the Darien comeback and won 3-2.

GREENWICH — During the preseason, Greenwich High School football coach John Marinelli mentioned AJ Barber as a receiver capable of stepping up and making plays.
Well, Marinelli was right on in his assessment.
Barber, a sophomore, helped set the tone of the Cardinals’ season-opener against Trumbull, catching three touchdowns from quarterback Gavin Muir in the first half.
Those three receptions, coupled by Ryan Raybuck’s interception return for a touchdown sparked Greenwich to a 42-7 win over FCIAC foe Trumbull in the season-opening game for both squads.
